Under the guidance of Dr. Timuçin Çevikoğlu, this refined format offers an ongoing class structure using the traditional meshk teaching method, welcoming musicians of all levels.
Children of all ages are invited to join!

Mark your calendars for Sunday, April 6th at10:00 AM and 12:00 PM PST for these exciting events. We look forward to connecting with you, sharing the beauty of Turkish classical music, and engaging in meaningful discussions and learning. Registration page coming soon!
Îlâhî Meshk (Every Sunday 10 AM PST) This class is designed for beginners, focusing on the foundational elements of Turkish classical music. The goal is not just to learn ilâhîs but to explore the core concepts of Turkish music: makâm (musical modes), usûl (rhythmic cycles), and poetic structures. Through both traditional and modern ilâhîs, you'll build a strong musical foundation. No prior experience is required!
Âyîn Meshk (Every Sunday 12 PM PST) This session is for musicians with some experience in Turkish Classical Music. If you're familiar with makâm, usûl, and ilâhî, this class will deepen your understanding of Turkish music and its rich tradition. While âyîns will be taught, the focus is on enhancing your overall comprehension of the musical structures. This class is limited due the interactive nature of the study.
Note: Students at any level can join both classes if desired, however to ensure you get the most out of your time, it is recommended that beginners take the Îlâhî class for 3 months before joining the Âyîn session. Those at a higher level who wish to reinforce their core technical understanding or further explore ilâhîs can also participate in the Îlâhî Meshk sessions alongside Âyîn Meshk.

Traditionally, in-person lessons are considered the most effective way to receive instruction in the historical Meshk style, and we are actively working with Dr Çevikoğlu to arrange periodic local workshops for both East- and West-Coast students. With that said, our remote sessions proved themselves to be highly successful both during and after the pandemic and we encourage all interested parties to check them out!
