Vision, Mission Statement, and Principle Activities

Vision:

Growth of the communities of musicians, listeners, schools, and patrons of Turkish Classical Music. Engagement of the next generations who will carry this tradition forward.

Mission Statement:

The Society for Turkish Classical Music supports, promotes, and preserves one of the great musical traditions of the world.

Principle Goals and Activities:

STCM promotes public awareness and appreciation for this unique musical and cultural form through concerts, lectures, demonstrations, and publications.

STCM creates learning opportunities by offering qualified instruction for musicians in workshop and master-class settings, developing curricula for this form in universities and music conservatories, and developing relationships, partnerships and teaching exchange opportunities between educational institutions.

STCM promotes community development by supporting interested individuals and organizations, promoting alliances and collaborations with other organizations engaged in similar and intersecting activities. STCM links supporters and patrons with individuals and organizations.

STCM transcribes and publishes contemporary notation of a large body of compositions preserved in pre-twentieth century notation forms, and which are currently in danger of falling into obscurity.
